How we evaluate, compare and report on products.

How does a product review work?

In some categories we test products hands-on under real-world conditions. In other cases we compile results from recognised independent test sources — international publications such as Wirecutter, TechRadar and PCMag, specialist UK media and verified consumer reviews. The choice of method is determined by product type.

What does the score shown on product pages mean?

Each product is assigned a weighted score on a ten-point scale. The result is based on a weighted compilation of all the test sources we have access to. We always state which assessment parameters are used and how they are weighted — the information can be found under the "Assessment criteria" heading in each review.

How up-to-date are your reviews?

We continuously monitor new test results and revise our articles as soon as relevant tests are published or products change. Each article has a "last updated" date so you can assess how current the information is.

What determines which products you highlight?

Our recommendations are based exclusively on aggregated test results. The products that perform strongest in our weighted scoring model rank highest. Commercial factors such as commissions or partnership agreements never influence the ranking.

Prices & purchasing

Questions about prices, retailers and buying via Testix.

Can I buy products directly on Testix?

No, we do not sell products ourselves. Testix is an independent test platform that helps you compare products. When you click a buy link, you are redirected to the relevant retailer where the purchase is completed.

Are the prices shown on the site accurate?

Prices are sourced from PriceRunner and leading UK retailers and are updated regularly. Since prices can change quickly, we recommend checking the final price at the retailer before purchasing.

How do I return a product I bought via a Testix link?

The purchase is made at an external retailer, and that retailer's return policy applies. Contact the retailer directly for returns. Under UK consumer law, you generally have 14 days to cancel a distance purchase.

How we guarantee that our reviews are neutral.

How is Testix funded?

We earn money through affiliate links. This means a small fee is paid when you click a buy link and complete a purchase. This never affects our test results or recommendations. Products are ranked based on aggregated scores — not commission levels.

Is it possible to buy a better score?

Absolutely not. Manufacturers can submit products for review via our "For Businesses" page, but this guarantees neither that the product will be included nor that it will receive a positive result. All products are assessed using the same methodological framework.

How can I verify that your reviews are reliable?

We always disclose which test sources we rely on, how they are weighted and which criteria are applied. You can examine the evidence yourself. By aggregating at least 5 independent sources, we reduce the risk that any single biased assessment influences the final result.

Is it clear which links are affiliate links?

Yes, all buy links on Testix are affiliate links and are clearly marked. We are open about the fact that we receive commission — but we guarantee it never influences which products are recommended.

Do I need an account to read reviews?

No, all reviews are freely accessible without registration. In the future we plan features such as saved favourites and product alerts — these will require an account.

Can I suggest a product that should be reviewed?

Of course! Send an email to editorial@testix.co.uk with the product name and your reasoning. We consider reader suggestions when planning upcoming reviews.

Does Testix have a mobile app?

Not at present, but the site is fully responsive and works smoothly in your browser. You can also add Testix as a shortcut on your home screen for direct access.

I've found an error in an article — how do I report it?

Thank you for letting us know! Email editorial@testix.co.uk with a link to the article and a description of the error. We'll correct it as soon as we can.

A product I own has received what I believe to be an incorrect score — what do I do?

Our scores reflect aggregated results from multiple independent sources and may sometimes differ from individual experiences. If you suspect a factual error, contact us with detailed information and we'll investigate the matter.
