Accessibility Statement

How we make testix.co.uk usable and inclusive for all visitors.

Revised: 26 March 2026

1. Introduction

Testix is committed to making testix.co.uk accessible to all visitors, regardless of any disabilities. We continuously develop the website in line with the Equality Act 2010 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

This statement covers the entire website testix.co.uk.

2. Current accessibility status

Testix.co.uk largely meets the requirements of WCAG 2.1 level AA. We have identified strengths and areas for improvement that we are actively addressing.

What we already meet

  • HTML structure with correct heading hierarchy (h1–h6)
  • ARIA labelling for navigation elements, buttons and form fields
  • Good contrast between text content and background colours
  • Responsive layout that works regardless of screen size
  • Full keyboard navigation throughout the site
  • Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
  • Natural tab order through page content

Identified areas for improvement

  • Some older product images have not yet been given descriptive alt text
  • The cookie consent banner can be difficult to navigate with screen readers in certain browsers
  • Some product filters could be made more accessible for keyboard users
  • Dynamically generated content (pricing, promotions) may occasionally lack sufficient context for screen readers

3. Our accessibility work

We improve accessibility through a number of ongoing initiatives:

  • Systematic checks — the site is tested regularly with automated analysis tools (Lighthouse, axe) and manual reviews
  • Training — our development team receives ongoing training in accessibility requirements and best practices
  • User dialogue — we welcome and act on feedback from visitors with disabilities
  • Action planning — known issues are documented, prioritised and addressed systematically
  • Launch reviews — new features are checked against accessibility requirements before publication

4. Technical foundations

Testix.co.uk is built on the following technologies to support accessibility:

  • HTML5 with semantic elements for clear document structure
  • CSS with support for user preferences such as prefers-reduced-motion and prefers-color-scheme
  • ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) to make dynamic interface elements accessible
  • JavaScript that is not required for the site's core functionality

The site has been validated with:

  • Screen readers — VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA (Windows), TalkBack (Android)
  • Browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (current versions)
  • Keyboard access — all features are reachable without a mouse
  • Zoom — layout is maintained correctly at up to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling

5. Forms and interactive elements

All forms on the site have been designed with accessibility as a starting point:

  • All fields have visible labels linked via for/id
  • Required fields are marked with an asterisk and aria-required
  • Error messages are placed next to the relevant field and linked with aria-describedby
  • Forms can be submitted via the keyboard (Enter)
  • On validation errors, focus is automatically moved to the relevant error message

6. Images and multimedia

  • Meaningful images are given descriptive alt text
  • Purely decorative images have empty alt attributes (alt="") and aria-hidden="true"
  • Product images have alt text that includes the product name
  • We avoid auto-playing video or audio
  • Animations are adapted based on the prefers-reduced-motion setting

7. Colour and contrast

Our colour palette is designed to meet WCAG AA contrast requirements:

  • Body text — contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against the background
  • Headings and larger text — contrast ratio of at least 3:1
  • Interactive components — clearly visible focus indicators with good contrast
  • Colour as information — we never rely solely on colour but always supplement with text, icons or patterns
