Gardening guides are written with UK growing conditions in mind — shorter summers, wetter autumns, and clay-heavy soils across much of England. Our category covers seeds, growing tools, watering systems, plant feed, and indoor/balcony growing kits. We test seeds for germination rate against RHS-recommended varieties, tools for grip and blade retention through a full season, and irrigation systems for leak reliability after winter freeze-thaw. Plant feeds are judged on NPK accuracy versus packet claims and on whether they deliver what the plant actually needs at each growth stage. For balcony growers we also consider container-growing suitability and reduced-light tolerance.
